Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most famous roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series, and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington in Ohio, dropped out high school in order to move to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite difficulties with money it was possible get her first significant performance in the video online series Rachel's Room as the main character. The role she played in the role of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. film Murder in Greenwich in 2002, earned her an award nomination for the Young Artist Award. In 2004 Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost where she was the main cast member for the first two seasons winning a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. Grace was a co-star together with Tom Welling on The Fog in 2005, was looking to go into film. The following year, she appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and also, as the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills in Taken. Her role was reprised for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role of Shannon in two more episodes of Lost including the series finale. In 2013, Grace appears in Californianation, the sixth season. She portrays Faith who's an avid stargazer as well as a the girl in the group. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. As a part of the Gyllenhaal Family she's the daughter and older sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was in her teens, she played small parts in the films of her father and co-starred with her older twin brother on Donnie Darko which is a cult classic. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received acclaim from critics for her performance in the romantic erotic comedy Secretary (2002) and the dramatic Sherrybaby (2006) each of which earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received wider recognition for playing Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother who has a child was nominated in the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she was in comedies and dramas such as Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 She also appeared as the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down which was an action thriller that was released in 2013. She also played she was a musician as Frank (2014), a musician Frank (2014) as well as The lead on The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama released in 2018. In 2021 Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directing debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
